Setting up a new food business

If you are proposing to establish a new food business, it is strongly recommended that you speak to Council staff first. Here's who you may also need to contact:

• Resource consent duty planner - to check the compatibility of your proposal with Council's District Plan zoning requirements. Email: resource.consents@codc.govt.nz with your proposal.
• Building control officer - for Building Act requirements, including any plumbing work, any structural changes to the building, or a change of use of the building which need a building consent. Email: building@codc.govt.nz

• Alcohol licensing - if your proposal includes selling and supplying alcohol.Email: alcohol@codc.govt.nz with your proposal.
