Cromwell Community Board members were sworn in yesterday (Thursday 10 November 2022) at their inaugural meeting which had been postponed a week to allow all the members to take their seats at the table.
There were four familiar faces in the Cromwell boardroom, Cr Cheryl Laws, Cr Neil Gillespie (also deputy mayor) and Anna Harrison, who was voted back in as chair. The fourth returning member Bob Scott, who was elected deputy chair for the board.
Two newbies signed their declaration of office – Cr Sarah Browne and Mary McConnell.
The community board normally comprises seven members, four elected from within the Cromwell Ward, and three appointed councillors from the ward (Cr Laws, Gillespie and Browne).
Cr Browne’s election to Council triggered a by-election for the fourth seat. Nominations will open at the end November and close 22 December at 12 noon. Voting will take place between late January and mid-February 2023, with the intention of having the new member sworn in for the March meeting.
