A picture paints a thousand words, but a video shows a thousand pictures…
“We can’t take credit for that phrase,” Central Otago District Council (CODC) Economic Development Manager Nick Lanham said, “a clever marketing agency called Screen Pilot in the United States most likely came up with that.
“However, we do know that videos are effective in this digital age, and in this case, a great tool to address the recruitment challenge that we currently face in Central Otago.”
CODC has developed a series of promotional videos to support Central Otago businesses looking to recruit staff.
The videos are intended to be an additional resource that Central Otago business can use when recruiting, showcasing what life is like in Central Otago and supporting the viewer to decide to move to Central Otago to work and live.
“The challenge we face is that we are a growing economy with a low level of unemployment – it’s much lower in Central Otago and about half the national average,” Mr Lanham said.
“It often means that businesses are trying to attract staff from outside of the district.”
The three videos cover profiles of two couple's experiences of moving to Central Otago, the range of employment opportunities available, and the outlook for the economy.
