Council’s objectives are to provide an enjoyable and safe environment for the whole community, promoting responsible dog ownership to minimise the issues of roaming dogs and nuisances from dogs.
Our dog control officers respond to complaints regarding excessive barking, roaming and aggressive dog behaviour. We ensure all dogs are registered and microchipped, and provide education and enforcement as required to dog owners who fail to meet their legal responsibilities e.g. to register their dogs.
We have a Dog Control Policy and a Dog Control Bylaw which provide further details regarding how we will achieve our objectives.
