RABBIT CONTROL - third week of July 2024
RABBIT CONTROL - Mutton Town - UPDATE Monday 8 July
In addition to the areas below (Cromwell Cemetery, Clyde Cemetery and Half Mile Recreation Reserve) we are also carrying out rabbit control on a block at Mutton Town Road in the same period i.e. third week of July. It is the corner block of the Clyde – Alexandra Road and Mutton Town Road (see opposite - and please note the caution regarding dogs, to keep them out of these areas while the operation is underway).
***
Weather permitting around the third week in July Council will be undertaking rabbit control using Pindone on the following areas:
- Cromwell Cemetery
- Clyde Cemetery
- Half Mile Recreation Reserve.
Council under the Otago Regional Council Pest Plan like all landowners is required to keep rabbits under control on its land. These particular areas have seen an increase in rabbit activity with graves in the cemeteries being used for burrows.
With the commencement of native plantings on the Half Mile reserve by the Haehaeata Trust, keeping the increasing rabbit numbers down in this area will give the new plantings the best chance to flourish.
Signage will be erected to advise of the operation and the public are urged not to take their dogs to any of these areas while the operation is underway,
Where possible rabbit carcasses will be regularly collected.
