Clyde reticulation works and pump station contract awarded

Seipp Construction Ltd, a Christchurch-based engineering company that specialises in pipeline, civil, river and marine projects, has been awarded the contract for the physical works to construct the Clyde wastewater reticulation system and pump station.
Clyde's new reticulated wastewater system will be built in stages over future years as part of Council's Long-Term Plan. The system will replace the town's existing wastewater system which relies on septic tanks and disposal fields. It will meet environmental and resource consent requirements, significantly improving the quality of Clyde's urban discharges.
Seipp Construction Ltd has worked on challenging projects requiring underground infrastructure. It worked on a complex project to replace a significantly earthquake-damaged section of the Southern Relief wastewater trunk main in a residential area of Christchurch.
The estimated total cost of installing the new reticulated wastewater system in central Clyde is $6 million.
Initial design work is already underway in preparation for construction work on stage 1 of the wastewater upgrade, which is scheduled to start in central Clyde in autumn next year.
Contractors are currently visiting properties in central Clyde to assess factors such as ground levels and the location of septic tanks to determine the best possible design for installing the new reticulated system.
These assessments are part of the design work needed to finalise the perimeters of the stage 1 (central Clyde) area. The exact perimeters are expected to be finalised early next year and CODC will communicate directly with stage 1 property owners and householders then.
The pump station will be constructed on Council land adjacent to the Clyde Golf Course.
An 8km pipeline which will transport Clyde's wastewater to Alexandra Wastewater Treatment Plant is close to completion.
