Cromwell Hall project at concept design stage
Concept designs for the Cromwell Hall project will be presented at the next Cromwell Community Board meeting.
The Central Otago District Council (CODC) contractor Jasmax recently presented a high-level look at the proposed concept designs to the Project Advisory Group and key stakeholders.
It was a significant step in the project to have moved from the investigation to concept design stage and to be able to show key people the progress, CODC Property and Facilities Manager Garreth Robinson said.
“It is important to take this group, who are going to be very instrumental in this development, on the journey and let them know how their input and feedback has been taken on board and worked into the concept.”
The project team has been reviewing proposed concept designs and exploring funding options, which will be presented at the Board meeting at Cromwell on Monday 12 September.
Cromwell Community Board chair Anna Harrison was happy to have reached this milestone.
“People are naturally wanting to know about this project – it is a significant development to be happening in their community, so I’m happy we’re in a position to provide an update in the coming weeks.”
Meanwhile, work was progressing on the site with the asbestos removal completed at the hall in preparation for demolition, Mr Robinson said.
Work would be ongoing.
“From a sustainability point of view, the hall needs to be assessed to establish what assets can be salvaged and reused.”
