​Alexandra Pool returning to normal operation

The Alexandra Pool will resume normal opening hours as of Monday 12 September.

Over the past few months, a lifeguard shortage as well staff absences due to the pandemic meant the pool had to reduce its hours of operation. This mainly affected opening hours on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays.

However, with the availability of more staff, the pool would be able to resume the 6am opening on those days from this Monday, Central Otago District Council Aquatics Manager Carly Getson said.

“It’s been a hard time for us, but we are excited to be getting back to normal. We are still seeing a high number of staff sickness, and there might be the odd occasion when we will need to close early if we can’t find cover.

“Providing a safe environment continues to be paramount for our users and staff.”

The public will be updated of any early closures or change to operations through the Council’s website and Facebook page as usual.
