The annual Eat.Taste.Central food and beverage celebration returns to venues across Central Otago from 20 October to 12 November.
Menu entries have now closed for Tourism Central Otago’s premium spring event; capturing the visuals of dishes in preparation for the menu launch in the week of 16 October will soon take place. This is when locals and visitors will be able to see and choose which dishes they want to try during the month long celebration.
Special dishes have been entered across three categories with participants tasked to find ‘hero’ ingredients that celebrate Central Otago produce, which were highlighted through the A World of Flavour video series released over the past year:
Wild Cairnmuir Rabbit Terrine, the Central Otago Scapegrace Whiskey BBQ Bliss Burger, the Cherry Bunny Burger and Orangapai Pie are amongst some of the more quirkily-named dishes that will be found on the menu when it is published.
There are also a range of special experiences and events throughout. These include the Alexandra Basin New Release Wine Tasting event on 22 October, offering the chance to meet the vineyard owners, chat with the winemakers and of course be the first to sample the New Release Wines.
“We’ve adapted the programme to bring our menu 100% online this year enabling locals and visitors to read about the dishes, get quick directions to venues, and check opening hours,” Anthony Longman, Head of Destination Tourism Central Otago said. “There are some creative and mouthwatering dishes to be enjoyed around the region whether you want to sit down with friends in a stunning vineyard setting or enjoy a Sens-ational Burger after experiencing some of our amazing local trails.”
The regional menu will be loaded online in the next two weeks at www.eattastecentral.co.nz and available from 20 October to 12 November.
