isites flying the flag in Ranfurly and Roxburgh
We can expect to see new exterior signage for the Ranfurly and Roxburgh isites as the final part of a national rebranding process for isite New Zealand.
This process began more than a year ago, with a refreshed isite brand design and framework to bring it in closer alignment with Tourism New Zealand.
At the Central Otago District Council meeting on Wednesday (13 December 2023), Tourism Central Otago Head of Destination Anthony Longman reported that Central Otago isite street banners and footpath signs had been updated to the new brand through a renewal process as part of routine maintenance a both Ranfurly and Roxburgh centres. All digital collateral had also been updated with the new brand. isite NZ will reimburse 100% of the cost of this change, which will be produced by local businesses. Ranfurly should get its new exterior signage this week and Roxburgh’s has been approved.
The report made mention of the fact that in November both the Alexandra Information Centre and Forage Information Centre told Tourism Central Otago (TCO) they would no longer provide a staffed information service and had moved to a self-service model. They would also no longer be working as agents for Intercity buses. TCO has advised the Intercity owners the Entrada Group, that there was still need for an agent in Alexandra and Cromwell, however, Entrada said they had no current plans to find agents, and customers could contact them by phone, email or via website for bookings and enquiries.
Central Otago District Council Group Manager Community Vision Dylan Rushbrook said he would be keen for someone to pick up the information service in Alexandra and Cromwell, but stressed that it was not something that the Council was resourced to fund or become involved in.
