Centrepoint carpark tree works
Four trees are to receive maintenance in the Centrepoint carpark in Alexandra.
This work is to be carried out jointly by Limerick Properties Limited and the Central Otago District Council on Wednesday 5 June 2024.
The carpark contains a number of mature Claret Ash trees, some of which are on Limerick Properties land and some on Council land. Some trees require crown pruning, one requires bracing, while two will need to be removed. These are on the corner of the state highway and Ennis Street and are now too close to the adjacent building, causing ongoing maintenance issues.
During the tree work part of the car park will be closed, along with the access to Ennis Street. It is expected to take up to two days for the works to be completed.
The garden area where the trees will be removed is to be replanted.
An additional Claret Ash tree will be removed from the Tarbert Street side of the carpark to enable Council's roading contractors to reseal the carpark and remove root hazards caused by this particular tree. A new tree pit will be constructed to enable the planting of a new but smaller growing tree to provide shade and amenity in future years for users of the car park.
