In a move designed to grow awareness of the diversity of offerings in Central Otago, Tourism Central Otago recently partnered with the team at Neat Places, a multi-faceted New Zealand content platform that guides people to the country’s neatest restaurants, cafes, shops and galleries.
Central Otago is the most recent addition to the Neat Places family, following on from Queenstown and Hutt Valley which launched early in 2024.
“Here in Central Otago there are some very neat places to be found in every corner of the district, from Ranfurly to Roxburgh, Cromwell to Alexandra, and everywhere in between,” Anthony (Antz) Longman, Tourism Central Otago Head of Destination said.
“In August, the Neat Places team had their content creators spend time on the ground uncovering all the aspects that make a town or region great and getting to know the people behind the scenes. They love great coffee, food, fashion and design, and their favourite way to travel is to go off the beaten track to discover how a place ticks. They even identified some unexpected and unique places to explore such as Wanderlust books in Alexandra, Stardust Gallery in Naseby and Feinerman’s general store in Roxburgh.”
The team then created interesting stories, easy-to-follow itineraries and business listings and conduct interviews with the 'neat people' to help their audience experience the place like a local. This content is now nicely packaged and shared on their Website, Facebook and Instagram, and in their printed ('Pocket') Guides.
Johnny Gibson, Neat Places Head of Business said, "We're thrilled to welcome Central Otago to the Neat Places family! Its wild and untamed nature lends itself to a world of experiences designed to delight every sense. It's a playground for foodies, outdoor enthusiasts, creative spirits and history buffs. It's simply impossible to run out of things to eat, drink, see and do in this one-of-a-kind place."
The twelve-month partnership between Neat Places and Tourism Central Otago means that Neat Places followers will continue to be introduced to new places to put on their lists for the next time they visit Central Otago.
