Community effort keeps Naseby hot spot cool

CODC, Hazlett Contracting, Ernslaw One, McLaren Ranfurly Transport, and Naseby Volunteer Fire Brigade members joined forces to complete another section concreting to the floor of the Naseby Swimming Dam last Saturday (7 December 2024).

The project is funded from the Naseby endowment fund and volunteers from the local Naseby Volunteer Fire Brigade provide the labour to place the concrete and spread it out. A new section is poured every year.

The concrete floor helps the maintain the clarity of the water and provides a nice surface for little feet to walk on. The water is kindly supplied by the Hawdun Idaburn Irrigation Company via the Naseby Water race.

As one keen volunteer said, he always enjoys helping with the concrete; for him it “marks the start of summer”.
