The age, condition, capacity, and technology at the existing wastewater treatment site at Lake Roxburgh Village requires redevelopment to comply with current and future wastewater disposal requirements.
Council is working through the planning, investigation, and consenting phases of the project. The current work includes the completion of a Contaminated Land Assessment, and the team are in the process of applying for a five-year extension of the existing resource consent to continue utilising the current treatment plant whilst final design and consents are being considered.
All
necessary assessments have been completed; Otago Regional Council have granted a five-year
consent to use the existing treatment plant. This consent enables us to
continue our engagement with key stakeholders including Mana Whenua to progress
with the planning of the new wastewater treatment plant and discharge of
treated wastewater to the land. Following the planning phase, we continue with
the design and consenting of the new plant before we proceed with the
procurement and construction of the new package plant.
